WORKING MODELS (can be produced as large sculptures, table sculptures, or jewellery)
I develop the sculptures according to my sketches as working models on a scale of 1:10. Afterwards, most of them get created in 5 different sizes.
All miniatures shown here are working models on a scale of 1:10, i.e. raw models that will be used as blueprints for the life-sized originals (scale 1:1, or, if wanted, much larger) as well as for the table sculptures (scale 1:5 and 1:10) and partially for the jewellery miniatures (scale 1:50 and 1:100).
Almost all sculptures are reduced to two design elements: SPHERE and BAND. In life-size (scale 1:1) the sculptures are made of corten steel & a golden sphere. The sphere has a raw surface with "cosmic" inclusions, similar to the moon or the planets Mars and Venus. The sphere is 24 carat leaf gilded.
Under SCULPTURES ON LOAN you can see first images of originals (scale 1:1, with makeshift foundations) together with the location where they are exhibited.
The titles of the sculptures are specified in the enlargements. Much more sculptures ( more than 100 subjects ) already are sketched.
An exception (no sphere of gold) is "GAIA". Here the sphere has a precious mosaic surface: the Blue Planet - our MOTHER EARTH - features a layer of lapis lazuli, the gemstone of the pharaos, combined with tin gold, as an embedded flow that swells up and ebbs away, winding from the South Pole to the North Pole in a right-turn as a symbol for the evolution of life on our planet. The gaps in the mosaic of lapis lazuli are filled in with Amazon green gem mortar. The astrophysical tilt of the Earth's axis of rotation is incorporated.
The table sculptures' materials are more precious. The metal band is made of oxidised silver, the sphere is made of gold sheet. On demand, silver can be replaced by meteorite or platinum.
These precious metals are also intended for the jewellery minatures.

GAIA THE EARTHLING unveiled since 12/01/2012
The date consists of the sequence 12 12 12 = 3 x 3 = 9 (digit sum). The shape of the 9 is worked into the north pole of the Gaia sculpture as a spiral of pure gold. It symbolizes the evolution of Mother Earth. The surface of the sphere is made of thousands of small lapis lazuli tiles. Furthermore, the “Pachamama” imprint and the Pleiades are worked into the equator on opposite sides of the sphere.

Joerg Fischer and Robin Duhme have created an image of the spiritual nature of the world. Sphere merges with Corten steel to become “earthling”.
As an architect, Joerg Fischer has built homes for many people. Together with the artist Robin Duhme, he has now created an image of earth, home of all of us. The sphere, which has a surface made of 24K goldfoil and thousands of lapis lazuli gemstones, has now been finished. The sphere will merge with a stylized body of Corten steel to become the “earthling”.
“Without sun, no life – without (sun) light, no space” is the motto of Joerg Fischer as an architect. In 2008, this native of Neckarsulm, Germany, began to design his minimalistic GOLDJOS statues, which are reduced to two elements: sphere and band. The golden sphere symbolizes the sun, “a cosmic symbol of Helios as the source of energy and life, as well as a symbol of unconditional love”, Joerg Fischer says. For the table statues, the metal band is made of solid oxidized sterling silver. The hollow sphere is made of silver with a galvanized gold plating. Miniatures for personal jewellery are made of platinum and gold. In the man-sized version, the statues are made of a band of Corten steel and a golden sphere which is plated with 24K leaf gold. The sphere has a rough surface showing “cosmic inclusions”, similar to the moon or the planets Mars and Venus. The sphere also is a terrestrial symbol of the human head or brain, says Joerg Fischer.
“Man as a creature has emerged from Mother Earth, Gaia, with the help of the sun's energy.” “Gaia” has become an ever more important topic for Joerg Fischer. “It is now the time that Mother Earth gets the attention she deserves. There are atlases and globes of the earth, but where are the sculptures of her?” Because the worldwide art market seems to have neglected earth, those two Suebians have taken on the task to change this. The terrestrial globe of Fischer and Duhme, which even takes the astrophysical obliquity of the ecliptic into account, has a precious surface: the blue planet is covered with lapis lazuli, the gemstone of the pharaohs, together with a deeper lying river made of gold leaf which, swelling and ebbing away, winds up from the south pole to the north pole in a right-turning spiral. “As a symbol for evolution on our planet.” The Pleiades are worked into the mosaic of lapis lazuli as well, furthermore, on the equator, the human face of earth as an imprint, called “Kogi” or “Pachama”, Mother Earth. The steel band itself, carrying the sphere, is a right-turning spiral upwards, which symbolizes the socalled precession of the earth's axis which generates the seasons.
Mother Earth was a lot of work. It took Joerg Fischer and Robin Duhme months to create their spiritual image of the globe. Work on the gold leaf with a length of more than 150 inches was a tedious procedure. Embossing and beating out the gold meant several work steps for each fraction of an inch. Putting the small lapis lazuli tiles into a mosaic was difficult, too. “For cutting the small gemstone tiles we had to buy a sintered diamond saw in the gemstone town of Idar-Oberstein,” says Joerg Fischer. For the seams of the lapis lazuli mosaic, the two created a special “earthy” gemstone larder from red lime, clay, iron oxide, petroleum artists' chalk, charcoal and self-made lapis powder.
Since 2011: And now the GAIA sculpture is in the making. She is supposed to symbolize MOTHER EARTH and simultaneously the EARTHLING (height of the sphere at approx. 1.90 m). The surface of the sphere is covered by 24K gold sheet and lapis lazuli, the gemstone of the pharaos. Already, thousands of tiles have been cut and many more work steps will be necessary. The sculpture itself will feature a right-turning upward spiral (to be seen in the working model on my web page) which symbolizes the turning of the earth axis (1 full turn in approx. 24,000 years, similar to the entire solar system around the mother sun “Alcyone” in the Pleiades). The melody for the unveiling, `Pachmama', was composed by Joerg Fischer in April 2011.
The above pictures from the workshop/studio show you several things about the GAIA THE EARTHLING sculpture, namely: design in progress, embossing and beating the fine gold sheet into a spiral form of a length of more than 4,000 mm at approx. 5 work steps for each millimeter, as well as laying the mosaic of lapis tiles.
Since 26/05/2008, a never-ending series of ideas for figures, sculptures, and art objects has come to me, as you can see under www.GOLDJOS.de. In all GOLDJOS objects – except for GAIA, in my working models only she is depicted in color and mentioned as the only exception – the sun manifests itself as the source of life and energy in a golden sphere. And when the sun shines, a golden sunbeam reflected off the sphere will always rest on the observer.
Philosophy
All GOLDJOS sculptures are "provitalis", i.e. for the (respectively: out of) life.
Without sun, no life - without (sun-) light, no space (which is my credo as an architect).
The GOLDJOS sculptures are minimalistic and sometimes symbolic in multiple ways. The golden sphere represents our sun - a cosmic symbol of Helios - as source of energy and life, as well as a symbol of unconditional love. The sun shines on all of us, it does not judge! The sphere is at the same time a terrestric symbol of the human head/brain. Man has evolved from MOTHER EARTH (Gaia) with the help of the energy of the sun.
As mentioned under MY SCULPTURES, all sculptures are reduced to two elements of design:

However, if a 3rd element of design is added to any of my figures, they become cheerful & witty, respectively profound, like for instance the LADY. In her case, the sharp saw teeth of the saw blade of an old buzz saw emblematise that beauty can also be dangerous. The saw blade is the elegant hat of SOPHIA LOREN in the movie "Pret a` Porter". The curvy legs stand for the drape of an evening gown and swinging legs at the same time.
Many sculptures (except for the GOLFER) have been created by emotion, and not by rational construction. As in the cosmos, there are no pure circles or ellipses. Also, many of them are skewed into a spiral like form.
I am particularly fascinated by metamorphoses in which the human body turns into objects of utility. This process creates symbolism, often combined with ambiguity or equivocality, following the ZEITGEIST / PARADIGMA, for instance the SUN WORSHIPPER (at the same time a bench), the ALFIST (Alfa Romeo car and human body at the same time), AUTOMORPH (car and human body at the same time), AT THE DENTIST (patient and chair at the same time), READING CHAIR (reader and chair at the same time), etc....
As mentioned under MY SCULPTURES, GAIA / MOTHER EARTH is an exception, not only regarding the precious materials that are used for her, but also in a thematic sense: it is time that MOTHER EARTH gets the attention she deserves. There are atlases, maps and globes of the earth, but where are sculptures of her? Has the art market forgotten about earth?
At the same time, the sculpture GAIA is man, born by the earth, for instance the female dancing partner in the TANGO sculpture --- coincidence?
The sun, however, I can not capture in one single sculpture. It can not be captured because it is in all GOLDJOS sculptures (except for GAIA) contained as a golden sphere - the sun is absolute!
My wish is: all GOLDJOS sculptures should bring joy and spread joy, because they also brought me much joy through their creation. My motto is: everyone who gets in touch with GOLDJOS may experience joy, wealth, happiness and love.
All sculptures can be produced multiple times while staying one of a kind since they can only be manufactured indvidually. They always differ slightly, since corten steel is difficult to bend. This is craftsmanship of the highest possible quality and precision, because the original sculptures (scale 1:1) resemble the working models quite exactly.

Each large sculpture comes with a GOLDJOS emblem that is worked into the sculpture during the finishing process. The uniqueness of the LOGO is important to me. Only once I have put the two brass spheres into the machined LOGO, the sculpture is finally approved and gets equipped with the present object number.
